Do you have any rail-crane related pictures you would be willing to share? If so, please contact: Phillip Treweek
This page contains links to some pictures from my collection of cranes in action and preservation. If you have pictures of NZR cranes, I'd love to hear about them - or better still - see them. Please feel free to contact me at treweek@ cs.waikato.ac nz. Clicking on any picture will open a larger image in a new window. If you can't see the new window, check that its not behind your current browser.
Not at all an NZR crane, and not even a rail-crane, but the 80 ton capacity floating crane 'Hikitia' built by Sir Wm Arrol & Co and based in Wellington is still interesting. The vessel(and her sister crane 'Rapaki') have lifted NZR locomotives on a number of occasions, so there is a connection. See the Home of the Hikitia and the MAANZ website for more information.
The following picture come from my own camera.
